Photo Assignment #1: Variations

For a while now I’ve been watching Ted Forbes’s YouTube channel The Art of Photography (which you should check out if you get the chance) and he began a series called Photo Assignments. These are going to be a series of assignments designed to challenge photographers creatively, and provide a chance for development artistically. I’m slightly late to the first assignment, which is about variations on a theme.

In truth, when I decided to do this assignment it was at night and I couldn’t be bothered to leave the house, and so I made my theme the curtains in my living room.

This is a style of photography I had never attempted before, and so it was the perfect opportunity for this photo assignment. While not necessarily something I would do regularly, it was a valuable study in line and shape, and a set of yellow curtains made a surprisingly interesting subject. If you are interested in developing yourself artistically as a photographer, The Art of Photography is a brilliant YouTube channel and these photo assignments will no doubt be of use.

As always, if you have anything you want to say about these images don’t hesitate to comment, and if you have any questions, get in touch!
