This will probably be the last image I take in York before I leave for the Easter break. I’m looking forward to being at home, with the expanse of the Dales on my doorstep. I’d only just started this blog when I left Skipton for the start of this term, so it will be nice to go back and share some more of the beauty of my home with you all. Before that, though, I’d like to talk a bit about York, and about the university.
This is Central Hall, considered by many, both at the university and outside of it, to be a hideous construction. I can see where they’re coming from, but I’m still oddly fond of it. I walk past it almost every day while I’m here, and seeing pictures of it will always remind me of campus. York is my second home, and there is no better time to talk about my experience here than now, when I’m getting ready to leave. I’m now finishing the second term of my second year, and when I look back on my arrival last year I’m amazed by how far I’ve come. I remember who I was when I arrived in 2015, and he seems like a completely different person. This university and the experiences I’ve had here, both good and bad, have taught me who I am and what I truly value, and for that I will be forever grateful. While I’m here I miss home, but while I’m at home, I miss York. The truth is, I am both at home and a visitor in both places.
